Over 200 Head Already At Atlantic City Oval Big Influx Expected From Havre de Grace This Week , ATLANTIC CITY,Mays Landing, N. J., May 22. A check with stall superintendent Al Nun revealed that theer are presently 220 thoroughbreds quartered her in preparation for the opening of the 21-day meeting next Monday, May 26. .9 Nun, who has been handling the details of allotting stalls since the seashore track was opened last April 28, expects this number to be tripled this week with a majority of the newarrivals due from Havre de Grace. Many of the thoroughbreds who performed during the Churchill Downs meeting which ended recently, also are destined for transfer fromA Kentucky to Atlantic City. The one mile and an eighth Atlantic City track, according to Nun, is in prime condition, a fact that has been echoed by numerous horsemen who have been training their charges over the course. Incidentally, schooling began here yesterday, with a member of starter Eddie Blinds crew conducting the lessons. Although racing secretary Charles McLennan isnt due to report at Atlantic City until the close of the Havre de Grace meeting, members of his staff already are on hand at Atlantic City ironing out numerous details preparatory to the opening. In addition to Nun, Hart Dernham and W. R. "Duke" Dahlstrom are working daily in the racing secretarys office. Meanwhile, indications are that a sterling field of sprinters will be drawn for the six-furlong Inaugural Handicap, which will feature the opening-day program on May 26. Considered almost certain starters at this time are Shamrock Stables entry of Air Patrol and British Buddy, George Crumps Dutch Raider, Brookfield Farms In Suspense, Henry L. Straus New Moon C. O. Fergusons On the River, Willian Helis Rippey, Pentagon Stables The Doge and C. F. Heinickes Turbine.
