Maryland-Bred Three-Year-Olds Clash In Best Event on Todays Havre Card . - . . . i Allure May Rule Favorite Over Recent Winners Balu Mike, Tom Ferris HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., May 22. Maryland-bred three-year-olds will provide the competition in the best race on a rather ordinary program here tomorrow. The feature has been named the Carsins Run Purse and will be staged over the six-furlong course. Thirteen were entered as overnight starters and, from all indications, the race will be run over an "off" track. In post position order, the field comprises Mrs. E. H. Augustus Allure, Christiana Stables Dobbin, Mrs. H. K. Hickeys Ocean Front, Alvin Newmeyers Balu Mike, Miss Margie Fishers Poussette, J. N. Barnes Miss Prime, H. Guy Bedwells My Egret, K. A. OConnors Mirad, N. S. Scavas Scat Back, Ore-field Farms Oref ield, High Ground Stables Rancor, W. J. Meyers Tom Ferris and Taylor Leatherburys Tacaro Milkman. The latter is on the also-eligible list. Although two of her rivals were winners of their last two starts, Mrs. Augustus good filly, Allure, may rule the choice in the rather wide-open race. The steady-going daughter of Discovery Savage Beauty failed to annex a purse in two starts at Pimlico, but they were her first two starts of the season and recent trials indicate she is approaching top form. Both Balu Mike and Tom Ferris were returned victorious in their last races, with the latters triumph the most impressive of the two. As a matter of fact, Tom Ferris has won his last three starts, having com- piled two straight victories before being transferred north from Florida. The bay son of Bud Lerner Lucky Jean changed hands following his last race here, but is expected to perform just as capably for his new owner. Balu Mike defeated maidens in his prior start, but the bay son of Golden Vein was straight as a string to capture the purse while completing the six furlongs over a fast track in the rather ordinary time of 1:13. Provided he gets postward, Tacaro Milkman may prove an able competitor, especially if he runs back to his smart effort in finishing second to Iodine in the Lady Maryland Purse at Pimlico. Tacaro Milkman was the medium of a lot of support in his most recent endeavor here, but finished fourth after revealing good early speed in a six furlongs sprint won by the longshot Going Airy. Of the others, Mirad" and Scat Back hold good chances, having finished close up in their prior races. Shamrock Stables Big Chris, an impressive winner while graduating from the maiden ranks in his prior race, heads the rather well-matched field of eight juveniles named overnight for the fourth race. Arrayed against the Shamrock Stable juvenile are Henry Horkheimers Second Son, P. A. Rothfus Top Foot, Bobanet Stables Monifieth, Paradise Farms Little Knick, Mrs. R. Zantzingers Hallzan, C. L. Creswells Willamar, and Gustave Rings Quasi. Monifieth, a good second behind Christiana Stables promising juvenile Theodore, may provide Big Chris with his i sternest opposition.
