Total of 2,667 Nominations Received For 70 Stakes at Chicago Downs Meet • Pacing Feature on June 20 Attracts 77, Largest Number Of Any Feature on Schedule One of the largest lists of nominations for a single stake program has been received by racing secretary Jerry Baier for the coming 54-night harness meeting sponsored by the Chicago Downs at Sportsmans Park, starting next Monday night, June 11. It is the intention of Baier to present at least one or more stake affairs oh each racing program. He has 70 stake races listed on the agenda and 2,667 nominations have been received by the secretarys office. The large entry list means that there will be full fields for all the stakes as well as for the regular races to be staged nightly at the popular Cicero racing plant. The biggest single entry list is for a pacing feature scheduled as the main attraction on June 20, when 77 horses were* named for the event. The largest list on a trotting affair is scheduled for the second night of the* meeting, Tuesday, June 12, when 73 two-year-olds are eligible to run. The next largest entry list for a trotting event is for three-year-olds that attracted 72 trotters to be featured on June 20. Several other1 stakes with more than 60 nominations are the Three-Year-Old Trot, June 18, with 66 named; the July 9 Pace, for older horses has 73 entries; 72 names were submitted for the July 20 trotting feature, while 61 older pacers are eligible for the big Pace event on July 30. two one ana one-nan mues aaaea money features tops the stake program with the running of the 6,000 Sportsmans Trot on Saturday, August 4 and the 6,000 Sportsmans Pace, scheduled as the head-liner on*Friday night, August 10. In both these events the nations best trotters and pacers have been entered, the trotting affair drawing 18 eligibles and the pace event has 17 named for the race. A pair of other added money features are sprint affairs, both being of championship caliber. The six and one-half furlong feature for the trotters will take place on July 13 and the six and one-half Pace Sprint Championship will be the top race on the night of June 30. Both these events will have an estimated value of ,000, and both races have 15 nominees on the eligible list.
