Yank Women Win, Men Beaten] In French Tennis Tournament PARIS, France, June 4 UP . — Americas number one mens double team went down to defeat today in the finals of the French ■ tennis championships, but Doris Hart and Shirley Fry won the womens doubles crown and Miss Hart also gave the U. S. a shares of the mixed doubles title. Frank Sedgman and Ken McGregor took j the mens doubles title by defeating Gard-nar Mulloy and Dick Savitt, 6-2, 2-6, 9-7, 7-5. Except for the second set, the Aussie -Davis Cup stars were in complete command against the players who are expected to furnish Americas best doubles play this" year. Miss Hart of Jacksonville, Fla., and Miss Fry of Akron, Ohio, captured the womens | doubles championship by defeating Bar-j bara Scofield of San Francisco and Mrs." Beryl Bartlett of South Africa, 10-8, 6-3. After the mens final, Miss Hart and-Hedgman teamed to win the mixed crown by downing Mervyn Rose and Mrs. Thelma Long of Australia, 7-5, 6-2. Americans won two and shared one of the five titles at stake in the tournament. -Miss Fry won the womens singles title yesterday by defeating Miss Hart, while Jaroslav Drobny took the mens crown by 1 downing Eric Sturgess of South Africa in the only final which did not include an American player.
