Fair Appraisal Registers In Close Finish at Suffolk SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 4. — Fair Appraisal, sporting the silks of the Potato Chip Farms, won the featured Andover Purse at Suffolk Downs in one of the tightest finishes of the meeting. So close was the decision over S. Cardiles Suffazon, only the camera could separate the pair as they flashed under the wire at the end of the mile and a sixteenth event. W. W. Waters Four Chances was third, beaten a couple of lengths and finished a head before the favored Andys Glory. Peace Mission and Dockstader completed the field and were outdistanced through the stretch. A warm, stuffy afternoon prevailed at the seaside track today, with 10,954 shirt-sleeved patrons being on hand. Only one choice, Palatine Stables Gay Prince rewarded the chalk players with a front-running score to pay .20. Apprentice Ralph Borgemenke was the winning reins-man on Gay Prince. The first four races were won by apprentice riders with Charley Burr, Williams Jewell, James Breckons scoring in the order named. Leo Va,ldes piloted Harry Barnetts Hard Held,* the winner of the fifth event and another veteran, Skeeter Catalano, was successful with Fair Appraisal. Incidentally, Hard Held was adding to his victory skin which has now reached three.
