JIMINY CRICKET finished with good courage to be best of the others. SHAFFIE made the pace until well inside the stretch before weakening. PATMIBOY rallied too late to seriously endanger the leaders. ROYAL LUCK caught tiring horses. BEN DAVIS lacked speed. JOHNS DATE was unable to keep up. PLUCKY PRINCE was always between horses. MERRIEST, never far back, came out for the drive and, under good handling, disposed of STAR PIGEON during the concluding strides and held WHOSE safe. The latter finished resolutely on the outside and rapidly was getting to the winner. STAR PIGEON slipped through along the inside rail to reach the lead nearing the furlong marker, then faltered. MRS. VALENTI, much used early, had little left. FAIR PORTER failed to stay. TOWN HALL had no mishap. CINDER KING lacked speed. STAR CALL retired steadily after possessing brief speed. CHO CHO SAN steadily improved her position to reach the lead entering the stretch and steadily drew clear. MR. WIGGINS held sway to the stretch, was unable to withstand the winner, but under pressure lasted to prevail over HERES JACK. The latter was unable to improve his position when hard ridden through the late stages. MISSELECT had no apparent excuse. ETERNAL STIM was outrun. WONDROUS WISE was through after three furlongs. COURT CARGO raced wide. MERRY THOUGHT bolted on the near turn and lost all chance. GALADEAR quit KENS STAR quit to a walk. VININA moved up boldly on the outside to wrest command from RUTH MURPHY on the final turn, was carried out slightly by THAT AINT HAY during the stretch run, but under adept handling outgamed the latter. THAT AINT HAY drifted out during the stretch run, interfering with the winner, and when unable to be subjected to punishment was unable to overtake the top one. GAIL R. made up some ground during the late stages. W00DST0NE had no apparent excuse. RUTH MURPHY, much used early, had little left. RED FRANCES was never formidable. SAXON KNIGHT quit. FLEETERTHAN raced in nearest pursuit of the leader while on the outside and held on gamely to be best of the others. LYCEUM failed to make up appreciable ground when hard ridden through the stretch. STAGGERING IN finished determinedly and probably would prefer a longer distance. DOCILITY began sluggishly. ON VELVET was " unable to keep up. PENSIVE LADY never threatened.
