RALPH AYOU -Drives Swindle Sheet in the featured Memorial Pace at May-wood Park tonight. ,500 Memorial Pace Tops Maywood Program Ladys Leon, Swindle Sheet, Mr. Primrose, Chief Mite Vie MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, HI., May 28. The ,500 Memorial Pace tomorrow night will bring together four Chicago Pacing Derby candidates in a field of 10 as Maywood Park opens its holiday week-end harness racing program. The stake will be run as the sixth and ninth races, both at one mile. Despite the presence of four Derby hopefuls, Ladys Leon, a non-eligible, ranks as early favorite in the Memorial. Ladys Leon has been successful in three of eight starts against some of the better competition at Maywood. The six-year-old Leon June gelding, owned by L. S. Guthrie of Cheney, Kan., won her last stay in 2:05, one of trie fastest miles of the meeting. Red Scott will pilot Ladys Leon from the No. 1 position in the first dash and uhe No. 2 slot in the second heat. The Derby nominees entered are Chief Mite, Daisy Mc-I-Win, Red Sales, and Battle Prince. Lucy F., Jerry Mason, Terrywill, and the Arch -McDavid entry of Mr. Primrose and Swindle Sheet complete the field. Both Mr Primrose and Swindle Sheet, new arrivals from Santa Anita, were victorious in their Maywood debuts. Red Sails, owned by H. T. King, of Lynn, Ind., comes into the Memorial after a 13-day rest. The four-year-old son of The Abbot has started only once this year, capturing a mile race in 2:08 over an off track at Maywood. Chief Mite, owned by W. E. Farmer of Findlay, Ohio, usually is matched in free-for-all events against the best pacers on the grounds. The Chief has recorded two triumphs against this brand of competition. Daisy Mc-I-Win, with one victory behind her, finished second to Ladys Leon in her most recent outing. The seven-year-old Mc-I-Win mare is owned by the Jordan brothers of Rockford, and will be driven by Dee " Stover, leading pilot atMaywood.
