MATTIE GIRL raced nearest her stablemate, HEDDY B., to the stretch, responded readily when set down in the drive and, after taking-command, won going away, BOMBAST, in hand while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, closed resolutely, but could not reach the top one. HOT CHOCOLATE, in close quarters to the stretch, made a good bid during the drive until faltering near the finish. TULKINGHORN, on the outside for the stretch run, could not threaten the ieaders. MISS KAZOO, well ridden, assumed command soon after the start, made the pace to the stretch under occasional urging, then gamely withstood a brisk drive to hold NEDS CHOICE safe. NEDS CHOICE, never far back, raced to MISS KAZOO during the stretch run, but hung in the last seventy yards. TRAMORE BAY lacked early speed and could not get to the leaders when hard urged through the stretch. SAFETY LOCK, in close quarters at the upper turn, made a determined bid when clear, then tired during the final furlong. THE MAID had early speed, but failed to stay. Attendance, 8,895; Total Mutuel Pool, 03,987.
