Dancer Blazes Six Furlongs In 1:12 as Prep for Withers BELMONT PARK. Elmont. L. I., N. Y., May 12.— Alfred G. Vanderbilts Native Dancer showed that he left none of his speed at Churchill Downs when he blazed six furlongs in 1:12, handily, this morning in preparation for Saturdays Withers Mile. With the maiden Beachcomber acting as a pacemaker for the first three furlongs, the gray colt broke from the three-quarter pole and stepped the fractions in :23, :34%, :4625 and :59h. It was the best exhibition of sustained speed that Native Dancer has turned in on Long Island this year. It was also a trial well calculated to reduce the size of the field likely to oppose the son of Polynesian in the Withers.
