ALBANY FAIR roused early to remain within striking distance of the pace, swung outside when put to pressure, responded willingly and was along in the final yards. SIR WALTER R. forced the pace from the outset, gained a short lead in the stretch, but was not good enough. MUSICAL LADY, steadied while saving ground and alternating the pace, gained the lead near the sixteenth pole and faltered. WENTWORTH, slow to begin, charged stoutly in the closing stages. POWER THRILL raced close to the pace, weakening in the late stages. CAUNSIL had no mishap. KING HIGH lacked a rally. SWEET SIXTEEN was unable to keep up. The others were outrun. OLD SOL charged stoutly on the final turn, responded to steady urging but was not good enough. TINY ADMIRAL forwardly placed, rallied mildly in the late stages. PONTALBA had no mishap. MATTAFOR failed to respond to late urging. JAMAL weakened after forcing the pace. MONTANA SANDS saved ground to no avail. POP-BOTTLE showed nothing. TEA TOKEN went to her knees leaving the barrier, recovered quickly but was unable to reach serious contention. CALDWELL, unhurried while reserved off the pace and saving ground, moved slightly out on the final turn, responded with a determined rush to overtake PLUS FOURS inside the final sixteenth of a mile. PLUS FOURS established a rapid pace, skirted the inner rail and held on stubbornly. GOOD SHOT, close up throughout, moved closer entering the stretch, swerved slightly to the inside and was unable to to menace. HIGH HEAD, in close pursuit of the pace under stout restraint, was caught in close quarters entering the stretch and failed to recover. ROYAL MARVEL had speed for a half mile and weakened.
