Slater Killed in Iowa Race DES MOINES, Iowa, June 6 UP.— Bob Slater, 29, of Kansas Ctiy, Mo., was killed Sunday when his racing car slammed into a retaining wall on the sixth lap of the Hawkey e Futurity at the Iowa Fair Grounds. Slater, 1954 International Motor Contest Association, champion, was holding first spot when his car went out of control, slammed into the wall and bounced back onto the speedway, landing on its wheels.
