BLUE VIOLIN was held under steadying restraint for the first half-mile, then moved up on the outside to become a serious threat and easily take command after entering the final furlong, scoring much as her rider pleased. LORI-JANE raced close to the pace on the outside in the early running and caught INSOUCIANT in the stretch but, although going well to the end, was no match for the winner. COSENTINA was always a fairly good contender and held on with courage. QUEEN HOPEFUL was outrun to the stretch and then closed some ground in the middle of the track. BUBBLEY made up somje ground, but went wide in the stretch. INSOUCIANT was used up making the pace and had little left Scratched— 48137 Beanir, 114; 474694 Centenaire, 106. ARETE was well rated close up for the first six furlongs, then caught DIRECT TINT entering the final eighth and bested him in the driye. The latter raced THE PRINCE into defeat in the first six furlongs and held on well when challenged. CHEROKEE PILOT lacked sufficient racing room early and saved ground in the stretch to finish well. BUT WHY was outpaced early and raced wide in .the stretch. THE PRINCE tired: CHANCE ALARM was close enough for six furlongs, but went wide on the stretch turn and tired badly. SAY-BELLE improved her postion gradually and was racing well at the end. SNORKEL weakened after taking a good lead nearing the stretch turn. WORTHY OPTION made up some ground. ADMIRALS PET tired after making a move nearing the stretch turn. FROM AFAR and BE SWAYED were badly outrun. Scratched— 50424 Ahsa Beauty, 111; 50193 Sunnybrook Sue, 106; 490383 Anuny One, 106.
