Baird Goes Down When His Mount Crashes Into Fence DETROIT RACE COURSE, Livonia, Mich., June 6. — Jockey Robert Lee Baird, one of the nations leadingreinsmen, escaped serious injury here this afternoon when T. Alie Grissoms two-year-old filly, Vickeys Image, shied, fell and broke the inner rail during the stretch run of the five furlongs first race. Vickeys Image was racing prominently near the furlong pole when she suddenly swerved to the inside and spilled Baird. The well known race rider suffered lacerations on the forehead and a possible cerebral concussion. After receiving first aid at the track emergency room for the cuts, Baird was taken to Mt. Carmel hospital for observation and further treatment. The Grissom filly, a maiden daughter of Carrara Marble and Sheilia Lou, suffered cuts on her forelegs in the mishap.
