BOB 0 BOY, unhurried in the early running, moved up on the outside rounding the final turn and proved slightly best over LIGHTNING BILL. The latter was never a great distance back, responded to urging to wear down MOI ET TOI while lugging in in midstretch and just failed to last. ROSE POLL found his best stride too late. BROWN BANTAM raced wide and made up some ground. CANT OMAR was taken up repeatedly. ROMANTIC ROMAN was never a factor. HOOKANEYE was through early. ALPINE PRINCE engaged BULLETS early, put that one away when sharply roused on entering the stretch and in a stiff drive held NORQUAY safe. The latter, slow to begin, was forced to steady when blocked at the three-furlong marker, rallied gamely along the inner rail when clear and finished full of run. LITTLE BROTHER raced wide throughout. LITTLE CHATTER found her best stride too late. MELZAR was well placed but lacked a closing rally DUCKHUNTER was never a factor. HIGH ORE, outrun early, swung wide when rallying oh the stretch turn and, after wearing down GUNROD in the last sixteenth, had enough left to outlast DEEP THOUGHT. The latter, far back for the first half mile, rallied from the extreme outside on entering the stretch and finished full of run. GUNROD, held in reserve early, raced wide and after wresting command between calls in the stretch, had little left to withstand the belated bid of the top pair. MISS ADA found her best stride too late. JILLION BARELS was used up in wearing down the early leaders. PILOT MODEL had speed for a half mile. FUSSY LADY tired, from her early effort. DECATHLON broke tardily with the rider losing the whip at the start, was hustled along immediately to gain command within a quarter mile, drew out while saving ground, continued on gamely when challenged in the stretch and outfinished OUR PLEASURE after being headed a sixteenth out. The latter, held under light restraint early, moved from the outside on the final turn to wrest command momentarily entering the last sixteenth and shied to the inside during the closing strides. IMPRESSED followed in closest pursuit of the winner, raced on the outside and gave way suddenly in the final furlong. THE RIVER was never a serious contender. JOES BEST was outrun.
