Austin Brown Guides Protesting Burro to Van Hagen Chase Win BARRINGTON, HI., June 25. Austin Brown scored his most exasperating victory ! Friday when he rode a protesting burro to triumph in the first running of the George Van Hagoa steeplechase. The long-legged amateur rider pogo-sticked his tiny mite over the finish line in front of three other struggling contestants, one of which remained in the corral until the race was over. As a fitting reward for his victory, gentleman Austin was appropritely "knighted" by Kline Weatherford, Anistars exclusive director of Arlington Park. Mrs. Van Hagen brought color back to the winners cheeks with a mightly bit of osculation. The affair was attended by a "distinguished group of international hunts enthusiasts and was held on the Van Hagen estate, one of the show places of the rolling hills of Barrington. It climaxed the Midwest Hunts Racing Association day at Arlington Park where the fifth running of the Arlington Park Hurdles Stakes was staged in the afternoon.
