JEAN METER went to the front at once to widen on her opponents after leaving the backstretch, then retained command despite going very wide on the stretch turn and, although continuing to bear out in the last furlong, had enough to hold ARALAK. The latter benefited through hugging the rail on the" stretch turn and went strongly on the inside to the finish. GREAT ISSUE was on the outside of JEAN METER on the. stretch turn and went very wide. V-JET was going in fair fashion at the end. ANGLING raced in three bandages and was never dangerous. DOBY saved ground, but tired. HITHERTO propped at the start and was never a contender! FUEL soon raced to. contention on the outside and although going very wide on the stretch turn, challenged in. determined fashion entering the final furlong to force ETERNAL HERB to relinquish the leadership and win slowly, drawing out under hand riding. ETERNAL HERB quickly opened up a good margin and then went well to the last fifty yards where he began to weaken. LOVELY HARDIE, close enough in the early, running, failed to respond when put to the whip. SCHOTTISCHE was unable to keep up. SAD ZAC tired. ALRAD began slowly and was never a contender. BIG TIME disposed of SIR FLINT after leaving the backstretch and, racing well in the going, galloped in front for the remainder of the trip to win easily. GALLANT BULL made a mild move nearing the stretch turn, but faltered in the last furlong. LETS DANCE lacked early speed and although going fairly welt to the finish, failed to threaten the first two. SIR FLINT had early speed, but tired. HARD WORK was handicapped- when the bandage on his right hind leg became loosened during the running. MELODIOUS drew away from the others after going a short distance and, increasing her advantage nearing the stretch turn was never in danger. D. DOUBLE D. raced into contention soon after the start and, displaying mud running ability, went steadliy to the finish. FIFILLE was never far away and saved ground in the stretch, but never appeared capable of catching the winner. NEW LEAF made a run nearing the stretch turn, then weakened. HAPPY VICTOR raced close up1 in the early stages and, catching LEADING HOME when straightened out for the stretch turn, drew away from the latter and was a handy winner. BALTIMORE JIM dropped out of it early and was permitted to remain some distance back of the pace for three-eighths, then made his move on the extreme outside on the stretch turn to lose much ground in racing very wide on the bend, but came gamely through the stretch and might have been best. LEADING HOME went to the front early and opened up after leaving the backstretch, but although saving ground on the last turn, weakened in the final furlong. JACKS TOWN failed to threaten. BANNERDAY and DUPLICATOR displayed fair form to the stretch, then weakened. DARK FAVORITE was forced to take up when in close quarters around the far turn. Scratched-998653 Plunder, 112. UNCLE EDGAR was saved within striking distance of the leaders to the far turn, then came strongly when called upon and, gaining steadily on the outside, headed the field in the last sixteenth to win handily. TED M. showed good form in making the pace and raced OUR JOHN WM. into defeat, but was unable to resist the winner. OUR JOHN WM. raced on practically equal terms with TED M. until the last furlong, then began to time. COLONEL MIKE dropped back when the real racing began. SUB did not appear to belong in the race. OFF AT 4:16 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won handily; second and third driving. EVANS MOUNTAIN joined WIDDEFORD in making the early pace and, although losing ground on the stretch turn, took command, was then quickly straightened out and raced well to the end. DEFLATION showed good form in the going and saved all possible ground to hold COFFEE MONEY at the end. COFFEE MONEY came steadily in the stretch run and would have been second in a few more strides. PRINCELY closed ground in the last quarter. WIDDEFORD weakened after entering the stretch and was in rather tight quarters when EVANS MOUNTAIN came over. MISLEAD was never a strong contender. TASK matched strides with TRANSATLANTIC for the first five furlongs, then drew away and was an easy winner. TRANSATLANTIC was in close quarters on the inside on the far turn and failed to threaten the winner thereafter. VARODf improved her position on the outside after going half the distance and went well to the end. SHOES made a mild move after entering the stretch, then weakened. BOMBCASE had some- early speed. AVONA was in tight quarters when TRUMPETER came out at the start. The rider of TRANSATLANTIC claimed foul against TASK, which was not allowed. .
