Daily Racing Form Speed Ratings The handicapper* and statisticians of DAILY RACING FORM have evolved a Speed Ratine system that is far superior to any yet devised. Instead of be Ins based merely on track records, the ratinrs are based primarily on the constant, or mean, speed of the track, allowances thna being made for variation in footing. By this method, when a horse earns a ratine of, say SS, for a slx-farlonr race at Belmont Park, be earns the same ratinf by the same effort at any other track. Speed ratlars are shown la the past performance* after the claimiag price or race elassUicatiea.
