BETTER GOODS followed in closest pursuit of the early pacemaker, wore down that one with a rush after going five-eighths, drew clear and, in an all out drive, was able to stall off MY NIGHT OUT. The latter, much closer up than usual, came out after going a- half mile to move up steadily on the leaders and was slowly getting to the winner at the end. TRIP LIGHTLY broke alertly and dropped back steadily. STAROVER had all his speed, saved ground and gave way badly in the last quarter mile. BLACK HOMBURG was always far back. OPEN WAY, never far back, loomed boldly under pressure on entering the stretch but could not sustain his bid. BROWN BUBBLE forced the issue for five furlongs before tiring.
