STEELE TO BREAK RAINEY YEARLINGS. Lexington, Ky., July 20. William Steele, for many years assistant to trainer Julius Bauer, lias arrived from New York to open a public training stable at the Kentucky Association Course. He brought with him the following live yearlings which were purchased at the recent Sheepshead Bay sales by trainer J. W. May for Paul J. Rainey, of Cleveland. O., the aggregate cost being 0,200: Phoenix National, chestnut colt brother to " Major Daingerfield, by Handspring Mon Droit $ 5,500 Bay colt half brother to John Smulski, by Star Shoot Ellangowan 4,500 Bay eolt half brother to Candida, by Bridgewater Blackhcart 2,500 Bay colt half brother to Hyperion II., by St. Simonian Van-a-Clar 2,000 Bay colt brother to Eonic, by- Eon Mermaid 1,700 Trainer Steele will break these, colts, try them out next fall and turn them over to trainer May next spring.
