JOCKEY POWELL IS RULED OFF. Jockey Benjamin Powell has been ruled off the turf by the judges at Seattle. "Powells disgrace vas the outcome of his ride on Kuby, June 22," says the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "Kuby, an 11 to 20 favorite, was beaten by Judge and the ride at the time looked suspicious to the judges. They suspended him for fifteen racing days after an Investigation, but could find nothing wrong. A few days ago Powell made a statement in which he admitted having pulled Ruby in the race. Later he stated that his first statement was untrue. There was iio unusual backing for Judge, but the officials are unable to state which of Powells stories is true. However, if true or not, lie was found guilty of telling a falsehood to the judges and to the" stewards and was ruled off the turf for life." ,
