KEENE HAS THIRTY YEARLINGS LEFT. Will Probably Retain Them to Maintain Prestige of His Stable Next Season. New York. Julv 12. The twenty-five yearlings by Disguise. Ben Brush. Wild Mint. Voter, Kingston, Delhi and other famous stallions that James K. Kecne sold at Sheepshead Bay Saturday, do not constitute the entire yearling output of Castleton Stud this season. There are thirty more in Kentucky and it is likely that they will all race under the Keene silks in this country next season. Mr. Keene will need them because his stable is unusually weak in numbers this year. He sent st manv yearlings to England last year that James Kowe found at the beginning of the current season that he had only seven two-year-olds to train, instead of the old average of twenty or thirty. It is a far crj- troin the racing establishment Mr. Keene has this year to the Keene stable of previous years, which hail horses of all ages for races of various kinds, and it will readily be seen that the vice-chairman of tlie Jockey Club will need the thirty youngsters at Castleton to recruit his fighting line for 1910. That lighting line must needs be strong if the Keene stable is to maintain its prestige. August Belmont is preparing to make a campaign with the Rock Sand and Hastings youngsters John Whaien and Thomas AVelsb art; to break at Saratoga early in September. The Newcastle Stable will have a strong string of youngsters by the French stallion. Adam. Richard T. Wilson. Jr.. will campaign twenty of the smartest colts John Madden has turned out from his Hamburg Place stud and several Kentucky breeders have scattered some promising youngsters among other metropolitan staldes.
