for the Race NEW YORK N T February S There was great rejoicing in the office of the Em ¬ pire City Racing1 Association yesterday when it was found that the total nominations for the stakes to be run during the summer meet ¬ ing at Yonkers entries for which closed on February 1 exceeded those for 1922 by nearly 300 the exact figures being 1555 to 1283 1283The The knowledge that the meeting will have the patronage of the leading stables of the country will be a pleasant memory for pres ¬ ident James Butler to carry away with him on his annual winter vacation in the South on which he starts on Saturday next in com ¬ pany with several members of his family and friends including former judge Morgan J OBrien OBrienThe The fact that the new allaged wcightfor age feature at a mile which is to be known as the Autumn Championship Stakes to be run at the autumn meeting attracted no fewer than 103 entries including some of the most promising twoyearolds is the best proof of the wisdom of secretary Schaum burgs judgment in putting it on the pro ¬ gram The best of the threeyearolds and the pick of the handicap division are also named so that the event will be inaugurated under most auspicious circumstances It is a race with a mission as it will give a true guide to the class of the horses competing That it will be won in some years by a two yearold is the opinion of the experts who regard it as one of the best races of the autumn season seasonMADDEX MADDEX LEADS KOMIXATORS KOMIXATORSJohn John E Madden leads in the number of nominations for the new stakes the Ken ¬ tucky
