ON THE WAY TO CUBA Secretary Thomas E Bourke of the Illinois Jockey Club accompanied by Sam Rifus wellknown restaurant owner left Sunday noon for Havana Cuba They will spend two days in New Orleans before sailing for the Cuban winter resort While at New Orleans Bourke will confer with judge Joseph A Murphy regarding the spring meeting at Hawthorne which opens on May 26 for twentyfive days daysMr Mr Rifus has obtained the concessions at Hawthorne for this season and it is planned to reconstruct the restaurant building The trip to Oriental Park is being made to get ideas for this work Mr Bourke will confer with Martin Nathanson racing secretary at Oriental Park who will probably come to Hawthorne for the spring meeting meetingBefore Before leaving Chicago Bounke reported that Bone Dry United States Remount stal ¬ lion stationed at Hawthorne was in the pink of condition Several marcs have been signed for mating with Bone Dry in the spring
