RECORD PRICE FOR YEARLING SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. DEAUVILLE, France, Aug. 16. The yearlings sales here have been exceptionally successful this season. The first crop of youngsters by Souviens Toi consigned by the Due Decazes averaged 109,000 francs. There were four in the lot. Joseph E. Widener took one of the prize offerings when he went to 250,000 francs for M. Aumonts fine colt by Nimbus Galloping Jenny. Mr. Widener outbid the Aga Khan and others in a spirited bidding battle before he finally obtained the colt. The price equals the record auction figure for a. yearling in France, which was established last year when Martinez Hoz bought the Somme Kiss colt at the same price. The Aga Khan was the biggest buyer at this years sales. He paid a total of 700,000 francs for five yearlings.
