t LATONIA TURF NOTES ? $ $ LATONIA, Ky... June 23. Harry Payne Whitney, his nephew John Hay Whitney, James Rowe, chief of Mr. Whitneys staff of trainers, Clyde Phillips, who is in charge of the Greentree Stable of Mrs. Payne Whitney, and Mose Goldblatt, trainer of Mr; Whitneys western stable, returned last night from Lexington in the Whitney private car. With the exception of Goldblatt, others of the party continued eastward with New Tork as their destination. They visited the Whitney Farm near Lexington for the purpose of inspecting what is expected to prove one of the finest crops of young thoroughbred stock ever had at the nursery. The two-year-old Royal Pennant, which went to New York to participate in several stakes. Color Sergeant, an older horse, and the Whitney .candidates for the Latonia Oaks will be shipped from New York early next week. Royal Pennant and Color Sergeant will be taken over by Goldblatt. James Caldwell has been granted a trainers license. Jockey Tony Pascuma refused to accept the mount on Oseda. on which he was programmed to ride in the final race. Pascuma claimed that he was not engaged on the horse. J. McGee turned in the largest claim of the Kentucky season when he took Mally Jane out of the third race from J. C. Milam for ,000. W. E. Hupps two-year-old filly Reveries Gal, which went slightly amiss following her victory in the Clipsetta Stakes, has been sent to the Hupp Farm near Lexington to be turned out until falL She bucked In the Clipsetta. Bradleys Peggy which equalled the track record for five and a half-furlongs on the occasion of her first start Monday, bucked slightly during the race and will be out of competition for a time. Trainer II. J. Thompson "Is confident she will bo. ready for a resumption of campaigning at Saratoga. Jockey Mack Garner suffered a bruised eye when struck by a clod during the running of the second race; In which he had the mount on Old Fellow.
