t" MARYLAND TURF NOTES e • BALTIMORE, Md., May 9. A. G. Weston reports that four of the mares he has at the Walden Farm, at Mid-dleburg, Md., have foaled this spring. Arey had twins by Mackenzie and both died shortly after foaling. Justly, Dance Spirit and Windigo all have colts by Mackenzie. Jockey Peternell was suspended for the remainder of the meeting by the stewards for rough riiling Tuesday. W. Burke, who is assigning stalls for the horsemen who contemplate racing at the Old Windsor track, feels much encouraged by the number of applications that have already been made, and indications point to high-class meetings at this famous old racing grounds this summer. The Wild Hose Farm, the property of • Val Crane was shipped to Kentucky Tuesday. Jockeys J. Butwell and B. Hodgeson accompanied the stable to Churchill Downs. . Alex Gordon wired that he was bringing the Fair Stables Oh Say to fill his engagement in the Preakness Stakes. James Fitz-simmons . is coming with the Wheatley Stables Distraction, also a candidate for this important fixture. Jimmy Bowe was expected here today with a draft of the Harry Payne Whitney horses. Violado, one of the Nevada Stables two-year-olds, has been placed on the schooling list. Matt Smart is shipping sixteen of the . horses he has in training here to New York Friday. . J. E. Beal is leaving for Toronto next week and jockey O. Brown is accompanying t him. C. Qauttlebaum, under contract to Willie • Boots, had his first mount when he rode the ; Alacomber entry, Bed Bridge, in the sixth 1 race. James Dew distributed among the horsemen " the condition book for the Thorncliffe ; meeting. R. E. Potts, with six, and Willie Daley, • ■with six horses, leave for Toronto Sunday. M. Schwartz, after an absence of a couple ; of years from the saddle, will resume riding • on the Canadian circuit this spring. E. E. Rhodes claimed the plater Rowlands l Request out of the seventh race Tuesday for ,500. H. P. Conklin will motor from Baltimore to Omaha. He leaves on Wednesday. At the conclusion cf the Omaha meeting he will I motor through Yellowstone Park and then i go to Hawthorne, where he will act as one of the stewards. Charles McLennan accompanies • Conklin to Omaha. The B. E. Chapman and M. Cremen i horses will be included in the shipment that t leaves here for Toronto.
