WHENCE CAME JUSTICE P. SPECIAL, CORRESPONDENCE. LONDON. England. At the December sales of 1924 the lata i Ben Irish listed a bay or brown colt foal by Abbots Thrace — Icemond, and at ,000 the hammer fell to the bid of Major White. This gentleman, so well known in bloodstock circles, exported him and re-sold him at the Saratoga sales in the United States as a yearling for ,700. This was Justice F. As a two-year-old he faced the starter upon two occasions, finishing second once, which did not promise much for his future, but in his second season he ran thirteen times and proved successful in the Black-hawk Furse, the Burnside rurse, the Rex Handicap, the Pelican Handicap, the Lincoln Memorial Handicap, and the Tijuana Derby, winding up the year with S,125 to his credit. Then, this year he has done wonders, and so far has an unbeaten record. On January 2 he won the New Years Handicap; on January 11 he took the A. B. Dade Memorial Handicap ; on January 25 the Southland Purse ; and on February 3 he won the 0,- 000 New Orleans Handicap, with a gold cup added, from a field of sixteen— thus putting four races and stakes to the value of 7,285 to the credit of his owner in the short space of five weeks. In the New Orleans Handicap, he started a hot favorite, and won by half a length, with 123 pounds in the saddle. He was favorite for the 5,000 add. d Coffroth Handicap, but fell lame just before the running of the race, March 18. This is indeed a "feather in the cap" of Eord Dewars horse, Abbots Trace. As far as I personally am concerned it is only what 1 expected. Since I first saw the horse I have predicted that ho would one day head the list of winning sires in this country. Maybe it will not be in 1! 28, but a year or two makes no difference. His time for fame will come, and it will then bo pleasing to be able to write "I told you so."
