AUSTRALASIAN YEARLINGS Record Frice Realized for "Down Under" Country When Saltash Celt Brings 3,750. When 27,506 was paid for Avant Courier, brother to Valicare, new figures were established at yearling sales held in Australia. It was predicted that these figures would stand for some time, but on April 12, the second day of the sales, this record was smashe-i, when 533,750 was paid for a chestnut colt by Saltash — Weltea consigned from Kia-Ora, the stud of Percy Miller. This was a phenomenal price and exceeded the expectations of even the colts breeder. Another good price paid was 0,000 for a colt by Magpie— Charlcville, brother to the mighty Windbag, which was also bred at Kia-Ora. The sales were conducted by the t«-o Sydney blood stock firms— II. Chisholm and Co.,. and William Inglis and Sons, Inc. No firms in the world conduct sales on more up-to-date lines. Last year twenty lots realized ,000 or more. This year the number was twenty-one.
