4 4, DR. FREELAND COMING FOR AMERICAN DERBY 4 $ Joseph McLennan, racing secretary and handicapper for the thirty-day meeting opening next Monday at Homewood course under the auspices of the Washington Park Jockey Club, has made the annbune »ment that Dr. Freeland, winner of the Preakness Stakes, is an almost certain starter in the American Derby to be run Saturday, June 1", at Washington Park. It is the belief of McLennan that Dr. Free-land possesses high merit and .hat, by reason of his Preakness Stakes triumph, he will be a sharp factor in the American Derby against Clyde Van Dusen, Blue Larkspur, Kaishapur and all others which competed in the Churchill Downs classic. The eligible? in both derbys being almost identical, the big racing attraction at Washington Park will in several respects be a duplicate of class. There is the probability that another flashy Eastern performer, Jack High, George D. Wideners chestnut colt, by John P. Grier— Priscilla. will start. Neither went to the post in the Kentucky Derby. If the plans of their owners are fulfilled Dr. Freeland and Jack High will add glow and contribute decided uncertainty to the outcome of the race.
