« 4 Waggoners Definitely Decide to Hold Ten-Day Meeting at Farm « $ LEXINGTON, Ky., May 23.— Paul Waggoner, before leaving today for Fort Worth, Texas, stated that his father, W. T. Waggoner, who, with his sons, owns the Three Ds Stock Farm and the thoroughbreds thereon, and in the string trained by C E. Durnell, has definitely decided to hold a race meeting of ten days at Arlington immediately following the Texas State Fair. The opening date will be October 29. Arlington is midway between Dallas and Fort Worth, fifteen miles from either city. The Waggoner property at Arlington embraces 2,000 acres. Already thereon is a magnificent race course with several stables, paddocks, excellent water system, lighting system and a small grandstand. "We are building a large grandstand, with all modern appointments, a new office for the racing secretary, jockey house and 300 more stalls for visiting horses," said Mr. Waggoner. "The purses will be sufficient to attract the better horses which will be shipped from Kentucky and Illinois to New Orleans and Agua Caliente. "The people of our section are intensely interested in the sport and we are getting encouragement from them, so much that we have decided to organize a club similar to the Turf and Field Club at Belmont Park and the Post and Paddock Club at Arlington Park. "We had a little one-day meeting at our place not long ago for the benefit of the Womans Guild of Fort Worth. There was no attempt to advertise it, beyond mere mention of it in the local newspapers, and that afternoon there were 750 cars parked on the grounds, to say nothing of the people who came out on the trolley line, which runs past the grounds. We will have the trolley line run into the grounds for the meeting next fall." Mr. Waggoner said that at the close of the Churchill Downs meeting the Three Ds Stable string will be shipped to New York to race at Aqueduct It will then be shipped to Arlington Park and afterward to Saratoga.
