Start good and slow. Won ridden ont: second and third driving. GAY PAST raced straight on the outside and drew away into a long lead and held BENDA safe to the end. The latter responded gamely to hard riding and finished gamely. WAGTAIL raced well and outlasted BOB SHANNON in the final drive. The latter showed a good effort and had no excuses. BANNERETTE swerved after the start, but finished well on the inside. MAIN ROCK could never keep up. NOMAD jumped well throughout, disposed of CRENALAN the first turn of the field and, withstanding determined challenges from LE DIGARD in the final half mile, drew away at the end. CRENALAN raced well throughout and came again. LE DIGARD showed a good effort all the way. ASTRONOMY was taken back off the pace at the first turn of the field and ran well thereafter. SlN BROOM showed high speed from the start and held on well to the end STORMY DAWN finished with a rush, FINIR raced forwardly and had no excuses. COUNT PALATINE showed a good effort. COQUETRY closed up some ground. ■ JEAN VALJEAN dwelt at the start and broke in a tangle. MATINS MINISTER showed speed for a half mile. FRIAR CLIFF came around the leaders. ROYAL STRANGER set a good pace throughout, saved ground and held on gamely. ALGERNON was squeezed back when entering the stretch and finished gamely on the rail. The latter was being rushed during the first part and finished well under pressure. A claim of foul was lodged and allowed. SNOOZE responded gamely and finished with good courage. ST. SANDY FORD quit Under pressure.
