DUMPY, under a strong ride and well suited by the footing, moved up fast from the start and, responding well when ready after reaching the stretch, raced into the lead on the outside, then swerved, but scored handily. LITTLE TOUCH, much used in alternating in the pacemaking, began tiring after be-in- headed NOBLE WRACK closed fast after losing ground most of the trip. WATCH ON had early speed while racing in close quarters and tired in the stretch. HEDEMORA was done after reaching the stretch. WHISK ARROW had no mishaps. • . .. . The latter, always close up, closed gamely after losing much ground on the stretch turn. I1ERETIZ began fast, suffered from interference, but tired in the final drive. VERMICCLITE began slowly, but was going well in the final stages. MABEL BASIL raced wide. RUTH MAYES was outrun. JALNA was forced back in the crowding at the turn and never recovered. DARK ANGEL had speed, but weakened in the drive MINERVUS was crowded repeatedly in the opening quarter and was forced back, but closed up some ground in the stretch. TAKDAL took the lead at once, withstood repeated challenges from MARY McCLAIN and. ridden •ut held LONGWOOD safe. The latter, slow to begin and far back for five-eighths, closed with a rush and headed MARY McCLAIN in the final strides. The latter raced on the inside while forcing the race to tie stretch where she went wide, then swerved near the end, but held on gamely. ILLUSTRIOUS showed a fair performance. PAUL REVERE was taken back at the first turn and tired after going well to the stretch. BEECHWOOD had no mishaps. CAMPION, a quick breaker, raced restrained while in closest early pursuit, overhauled THE MOON with a rush after reaching the stretch and was not fully extended in holding him safe in the final stages. THE MOON rushed into a clear lead, continued well under pressure when challenged in the stretch and held on gamely after being headed. COLONEL HENRY, never far back, made n resolute finish. Won driving; seconel and third the same. DOUBLE O., racing in his best form, made a good pace and, standing a long drive gamely, outlasted GEORGE McCRANN. The latter, never far back, moved up with a rush after a half mile, suffered slight interference from the winner in the final eighth and weakened sharply right at the end. CREEK INDIAN raced close up from the start and held on fairly well. SUIERLOVE raced foiwardly. but wide for the entire race. HERENDEEN, left at the peist, closed an immense gap and was probably much the best. LANCER had no excuse. RESPOND fell while at the post, where he tripped over the barrier and was outrun.
