TONY JOE, taken into the lead at once, maintained a good pace while racing well in hand to the stretch, where he outfinished SPOT LIGHT. The latter worked her way up on the outside and finished resolutely, but could not get up. RESPOND saved ground and. racing prominently from the start, out-staved CIIlM. The latter, poorly ridden, had no chance, due to being kept behind horses for the entire way. but finished lull of run. NOBI.E WRACK tired in the final drive. DEDICATE, a quick beg:nner and lucky to tsc.:pe the crowding, moved into an early lead in tha first quarter and. holding on resolutely, held RED RIDER safe. The latter moved up fast after figuring in the crowding during the opening three-eighths and hWM fast. MICHIGAN BOY mot inter-ferenee, but finished with a rush. MONNIE was in a tangle in the first quarter, then found racing room and raced close up, but tired. PEACE BUD ran a good race. WILD OLIVE tired. ZIRCON and SELECTION suffered from interference. PETER PARLEY finished fast. OUI MONSIEUR had an advantage at the start, saved ground while showing early speed, and tired. SMOLDERING failed to gain a contending position. BUDDY BASIL, never far lack and incky to save ground throughout, responded gamely when ready after reaching the final half-mile post and. slipping through on the inside of CI YDE VAN DlSEN in the final eighth, got up to win right at the end. CLYDE VAN DLSEN passed AMSTERDAM into an easy lead after the first quarter, set a fast pace and was allowed to swerve in the final eighth, opened a path next to the inner rail for the winner, which he just failed to outstay. BEN MACHREE lost ground most of the distance, moved up gamely after readiing the final h.ilf mile and made a gains finish. AFRICAN raced far back to the final quarter, where he gained some ground.
