KEEN, away quickly, followed the fast pace set by WASHINGTON CARRIE, shook the latter off when making her challenge entering the home stretch and came away during the final eighth. WASHINGTON CARRIE showed much early speed, but was not good enough for the winner. LEAD-GOLD, slow to settle in his stride, saved ground and, finishing stoutly, just failed to get up for second place. ARCHIPELAGO tired in the last quarter mile. WRACKELL |.egan well, was outrun for the first three eighths, moved up fast on the outside and, finishing with good speed in the stretch, wore SKID down gradually to get up in the final strides! SK11 displayed fine early speed, disposed of ROYAL SABI.K without effort: opened up a good lead, but tired fast inside the final eighth. PLAY BALL, a slow beginner, finished fast when settled in his best stride. ROYAL SABLE had speed, but was unable to keep pace. COMPANION went into the air at the start, recovered, but was unable to reach the leaders after taking a wide course. The others had no mishaps. Scratched— 36893 Bannerette, IOC. PEBBLE S LAST, rated along on the outside of the leaders, responded with good speed when placed under punishment, wore the leaders down and, under hard riding, just lasted to stall off MARAT. The latter, slow to get into her best stride, worked her way up on the outside and was going fastest at the end. NEGOTIATOR, in close quarters in the early stages, finished fast when clear. PLEASANT SMILES forced a good early pace, saved ground, but tired from bis early efforts. DAINTY MAID quit, as did Scratched — 37882 Carloman, 117; 37831 Acrostic, 108; 37771sRose Flame, 91.
