June 26.— The best two-year-old in American racing at the present time is Boojum, the son of John P. Grier and Elf, bred and owned by Harry Payne Whitney. Joe McCarty gives Boojum his exalted rating. McCarty, a local turf authority, annually handicaps the juvenile crop after it has been sufficiently tested in compititiun. anil his ratings are valued highly by leading horsemen. McCarty considers Boojum six pounds better than any two-year-old that has been shown thus far this season. To date Boojum has stalled only twice, both times in overnight events.
