T LATONIA TURF NOTES ? e — § LATONIA. Ky., June 26. Mose CJoldblatt this afternoon was negotiating for the purchase of the contract held by Airs. J. L. Brannon, on apprentice Kenneth Russell, a California boy, who displayed fine form in the saddle before contracting an ear ailment which forced him to undergo an operation several weeks ago. Since Russell has made a rapid recovery and he expects to resume riding this week. The contract extends over a period of five years, and there has been no announcement as to the amount involved in the deal. Gallant Knight, the Audley Farms main reliance for honors in the Cincinnati Trophy, to be run here Saturday, worked three-quarters in 1:11% shortly after the second race this afternoon. He went the quarter in :22"i. half in :46s, and five-eighths in :59%. The stewards held jockey R. Zucchini guilty of rough-riding astride The Southerner in the third race, and suspended him for the remainder of the meeting. The trials of several of the leading candidates for Saturdays running of the Cincinnati Trophy, featured this mornings period of training. Ma Yerkes, the sterling filly owned by J. Graham Brown and trained by Sewell Combs, worked the stakes distance of three-quarters over the prevailing good track in 1:14%. The daughter of Leonardo II-— Crosbun, went along easily and was accompanied for the first five-eighths by Lady Fingers. They went the quarter in :23% and the half in :48%, while Lady Fingers finished three-eighths in 1 :00%. Tannery, E, F. Prichards good colt, which arrived here Monday from Fairmount Park, went five-eighths in :59%, handily, and eased up three-quarters 1 :14. Fractional time for his move was :23%, :35 and :47%. a
