Prkhard 8 5 1 0 2 1,390 In mid-summer, just before closing his juvenile season, Tannery won the Cincinnati Trophy at Latonia, and this was the most notable of his series of victories. It was worth ,540 to owner Prichard. This race was run on a good track, over a distance of three-quarters of a mile, and Tannery had up 118 pounds. He won by a head front the favorite, Ma Yerkes. He lost a lot of ground by racing wide, but responded so well in the stretch that he overtook the swift pacemaker in the last few yards. Two other good ones that finished behind him in this race were Take Off and Sydney. Tannery made his first start at Miami early in the winter of 1929. He appeared green, but was not far out of the money at the finish. He started next in s a mile race on the same track and won by seven lengths. Moving to Jefferson Park, he .carried 115 pounds and won a three-quarters race easily, on a heavy track. He again displayed fine form on a heavy track at Fairmount Park, leading all the way arid winning by a length from Thistle Ann. Soon after this he showed his versatility -by winning, by three lengths on a fast track while carrying 122 pounds. The distance of this was only five and a half furlongs. As a result of those performances he was odds-cn favorite in the Jefferson Hotel, Stakes at Fairmount, but in this he finished second to McEvely, a colt he had previously beaten. Again he had up 122 pounds and closed very fast after a slow start. After winning the Cincinnati Trophy, Tannery competed in the Post and Paddock Stakes at xVrlington Park, in which he and two others carried the top weight of 122 pounds. In this Tannery started very slowly and never got into the thick of it, although he was rapidly improving his position as the end was reached. I
