FEW LEXINGTON WORKOUTS Poor Weather Conditions Hinder Trainers in Preparing Juveniles for Racing. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 3. More rain Wednesday night added to the already miserable track conditions here this morning, and workouts were" comparatively few. The continuation of bad weather has presented a perplexing problem to trainers. Unable to work as much as they should on their two-year-olds and unable to school them at the barrier, trainers are not likely to have the usual number of juveniles ready for early racing. This is the first time in a long period of years that training activity has been so badly hampered by weather conditions. This morning saw only a few horses of merit On the track, James M. and Fiddler, property of Gallaher and Combs and Whisp, which Auval Baker is preparing for R. S. Clark, being the only Derby eligibles of note to be sent through anything that resembled workouts. James M. worked three-quarters in company with Fiddler in 1:26, while Whisp was accompanied by Whiskery for a like distance in 1 :23. Ashtabula, and Racketeer were given slow gallops by trainer Walter Grater., Uncle Matt was on the track again today and appeared none the worse for his sensational six furlongs workout in 1 :15 Wednesday. He has trained in excellent fashion this spring.
