Ky., April 3. Some of Americas really great horses were nominated for the 0,000 added Grainger Memorial Handicap this year. This fixture- is at a distance of a mile and a quarter and has attracted the nominations of such route runners as Mike Hall, Victorian, Clyde Van Dusen, Golden Prince, Toro, Jock, The Nut and Xaishapur. It is believed now, just after the announcement of the list, that Victorian, winner of the Agua Caliente Handicap and now third only to Zev and Display among the money-winning horses of the world, will be a starter, and that, while he may not meet all of those just mentioned in the Grainger, there will be a field of sufficient quality and quantity to make this years Grainger one of the greatest in its history. This race has been won by some of the countrys star performers in the past. Last year it was one of the few engagements filled by E. B. McLeans fine racer Toro. The field was small and Toro had only Broadside, Clyde Van Dusen and Easter Stockings to beat. . This years field is almost certain to be larger and the race much more interesting, for, in addition to those mentioned, the nomination list, fifty-eight strong, includes the names of such good horses as Misstep. Windy City, Lady Broadcast, Blackwood, Chicago, Sortie, Pigeon Hole, Bossie and Montanaro.
