LOSE PROMISING JUVENILE Chiata, Owned by Serenata Stock Farm Stable, Succumbs to Shipping Fever. LEXIXG TON, Ky., April 3. Chiata, the promising two-year-old in the string of the Serenata Stock Farm, owned by Frank and John McAtee, succumbed to an attack of pneumonia at the Kentucky Association track, AVednesday afternoon. The juvenile contracted the fever while en route from Miami to Lexington a few days ago. Chiata was a chestnut son of Chilhowee Serenata, by Ornament, and regarded by his owners as the fastest horse they have owned in the past few years. They recently refused a 0,000 offer for him. He was entered in several stakes in Kentucky for the coming season. Chiata worked sensationally for his debut at Miami last winter, but failed to win in his first start. , He bucked his shins in his second and last start and was thrown out of training. It was a year ago yesterday that Messrs. McAtee lost a half brother to Chiata, the colt succumbing to shipping fever. He was by Cherokee Serenata. Chiata was regarded a much more valuable two-year-old than was the one which died last year.
