AGUA CALIENTE STATISTICS Victorian Heads List of Winning Horses With 9,225 to Credit. Agiuv Cnliente Jockey CIul Distributes 92,. 033 Among "Winning; Owners ,5J3.61 Daily Average. The Agua Caliente meeting of 1929-30, Avhieh concluded on March 30, Avith the running of the Agua Caliente Cup Handicap, was not of as long duration as its predecessor, Tijuana, which it succeeded as the racing center in lower California. Owing to delay in construction of the new track, the meeting did not begin until December 28, whereas Tijuana usually opened on or about Thanksgiving Day. ISighty-one days of racing were given, however, and during that period 02,-035 was distributed among winning owners. This represented a daily average of ,543.01. Thirteen owners were credited with winning 10,000 or more, with the AVarm Stable, of Silas Mason and A. W. Honger, showing the way with winnings of ?99,225. The Alio Carrodlo Stable was next with 9,375. Raoul "Walsh, who entered the ranks of owners shortly before the running of the Agua Caliente Derby, had the good fortune to purchase the filly Greyola, which won that race and lifter her new owner into third place among the money winner with 9,200. Baron Long did well, winning thirty-five races worth 5,-925. Iteichert Brothers, Mrs. C. B. Irwin, Nevada Stock Farm Stable, A. A. Baroni, La Brae Stable, H. G. Bedwell, Mrs. J. A. Parsons. B. Creech and the Agua Caliente Stable were th2 remaining owners whose total winnings were more than 0,000. Victorian, scoring a brilliant victory in the rich Agua Caliente Handicap, not only accounted for 9,225, but through the victory placed his name third on the list of the greatest money winning horses in American turf history, being only a few dollars behind Display, which is second to Zev. Victorian won two races during the meeting. Alexander Pantages. winner of the Agua Caliente Cup Handicap and second in the Agua Caliente Handicap to Victorian, earned 1,175, part of it the result of victory in one other race. Greyola earned 1,450, winning three times in addition to the Agua Caliente Derby. Siskin started twice and won twice, one of his triumphs coming in the Agua Caliente Futurity. Being the first son of the brilliant French horse. Epinard. to race in this country, much interest attached to his racing. J. Redding was the outstanding rider at the meeting in point of victories, having seventy-five successful mounts, whereas AV". Moran, in second place, had only forty-two. H. Schutte, G. De Peso, W. Cleverley and N. Richardson rode well and won frequently. "W. Fenwick accounted for training honors, saddling thirty-five winners. C. B. Irwin, who has usually taken training honors at the lower California meetings, was second with thirty. -Three trainers were tied with nineteen winners each, A. A. Baroni, D. F. Cannon and J. H. Carter. Seven stake races were decided, among them the Agua Caliente Handicap, richest race in the world for horses three years old and over.
