AWAIT BUGLE AT AURORA Everything Is in Readiness for Inaugural at Exposition Park. Horse Colony Considerably Increased During Last Two Days Thirty Jockeys Already Registered. AURORA, 111., April 29. Everything is in readiness at Exposition Park for the bugle call. With the arrival of 200 horses in the last two days, the horse colony has been swelled to a little over 800 head, and with another group to come in the next day or two, all signs indicate a plentiful supply for the meeting. General manager Cliff Trimble has gone to extra pains to scrutinize all applications this year, thereby taking his pick from the 1,500 or more applications. Twenty-three horses were named today for the Inaugural Handicap, the feature event on. the opening days program of the spring meeting of the Exposition Park Jockey Club, Aurora, which will start Thursday for twenty-one days. The race, the fifth on the card, will be a six-furlongs sprint. The entries are Morsun, Charm, Jack Haskell. Film, Trieze, Jack Howell, Playfellows Dream, Break of Dawn, Andromeda, Jack Rankins Little Gyp, Old. Dutch, Chattering, First Mission, Nostaw, Tonto Rock, La Belotte, The Dago, Taddy-wawa, Cabildo, Old Kickapoo, Tommy Lad and Nora D. The latest arrivals were six carloads : five from Wheeling and one car from Lexington. Al Smitha brough six ; L. Bellew, thirteen ; O. L. Foster, thirteen ; Sam Holman, seventeen ; W. Mikel and Son, thirteen; J. M. Reed, three ; H. C. Rummage, sixteen ; R. AV. Sel-den, five ; J. J. Keith, three ; R. Jones, one ; U. S. Wishard, six ; L. Kern, two ; A. Tarn, six; J. S. Scobie. three; Mrs. M. Hunter and J. J. Coughlin, with nine. Among the better class of horses here at present are Playfellows Dream, Miss Ramsey, Favorit II., Jack Haskell, Trieze, First Mission, Gibbons, Paul Bunyan, Alto, Bridegroom, Richu, Andromeda, Bramstar, Old Kickapoo, Old Dutch, Cabildo, Kadiak, Prickly Heat, Morsun, Conquistador, Taddywawa, Big Sweep. Bob Rogers, The Dago, Leyland, Jack Alexander, Garnish, Klingstone, Backbone, Tonto Rock. Film, Charm, Big Chief, Gracious Gift and Mill Hand. William Owens, custodian of the jockeys room, was an arrival from New Orleans and reports about thirty riders have checked in to date. Owens will have charge of all the jockey rooms on Chicago tracks, with the exception of Hawthorne. Jockey J. Redding, who is the leading rider of America at present due to his brilliant work in the saddle since January 1, was an arrival from Agua Caliente and is affiliated with C. E. Davison. Henry take care of the registrations and many other details in preparation for the opening of the meeting. The vanguard of the shipments from Wheeling arrived today when five carloads of thoroughbreds were unloaded from that point. B. M. Rosenheim, Chicago patron, reached here from Louisville, bringing eight horses. The useful Don Fernando and Nora D. are the best known. Atlil, Willing, Miss Pearl, Gossoon, Houseboy and Colored John are others that will carry the colors of this string, which will race under the nom de course of the Rosehome Stable. Jockey J. Leyland, whose riding at New Orleans during the past winter was extremely good, has signed up with A. J. Plack for the Aurora meeting. S. F. Murphy will make engagements for Leyland. E. L. Snyder, owner of Watergap, which was a frequent winner during the Tanforan meeting, was an arrival. He expects Water-gap to prove one of the most formidable sprinters of the impending meeting. Jockey P. Keiser accompanied the popular horseman. Roy Selden has replenished his stable with the horses Irish and Grey Gull, which he obtained during the Jamaica meeting. The promising apprentice, F. C. Smith, whose contract Selden purchased, will do the riding for the establishment.
