ASCOT, England, June 16. — An American-bred colt, Sir Andrew, owned by William Woodward of New York, scored a popular victory in the Prince of Wales Stakes as Royal Ascot opened its four days meeting with a crowd of 100,000, including the king and queen, in attendance. Sir Andrew finished the distance three-quarters of a length in front of Cremebrulee, while the latter was a full length ahead of Armagnac. Armagnac was the 7-1 favorite, while Sir Andrew closed at 10-1 and Lord Astors colt at 100-8. Fifteen started. J. A. Dewars Cameronian, winner of the Derby, returned to racing and accounted for the Palace Stakes, at one mile. Lord Astors Truculent was second and Sir A. Baileys Portlaw third. Cameronian was the 15-8 favorite, with Truculent closing at 4-1 and Portlaw at 7-1.
