LEJOY began well from the extreme outside, was forced to lose ground on the turn, where he kept close up under light restraint and, responding gamely, worked his way into the lead and won drawing out. MASTER McGEE showd speed from the start, held the lead briefly in the stretch and went gamely in the final drive, but was overmatched. DAD MEINERS, slow to get going and far back to the stretch, closed with a rush. MEXICO was outrun from the start and raced wide throughout and closed with a great rush. PARIS BOUND held on well. BENEFIT, hustled into a long lead, quit badly after half a mile. GOLD TIP began slowlv and was never a factor. BONNIE BRAE, taken back at the start, showed little speed. TADDYWAWA, close up after a quarter, went to the inside on the stretch turn and, working her way up gradually thereafter, headed PHANTASIME and drew away in the final strides. The latter, lucky at the start, followed the early leader under restraint, took the lead when called upon, but could not withstand the winner. ELLICE bes:an in a tangle, saved ground on the turn and closed fast after being cut off in the stretch. FAIRY RING had speed and raced wide. WEIDELEEN, away poorly, showed a fair performance. VERY WELL tired badlv. KAMALII had earlv speed. ANITA ORMONT, easily best and close up from the start, raced into the lead with a rush and. maintaining good speed, drew out rapidly in the last sixteenth. THISTLE TELEE began fast, forced the early pace under restraint and, heading VIXEN LASSIE after reaching the stretch, was no match for the winner. RARA AVIS closed ground on the inside on the stretch turn and held on fairly well. MONKS FOX closed boldly. MATINEE GIRL was forced to lose much ground. VIXEN LASSIE showed early speed. PRINCESS VOLTA unseated her rider and ran awav a half mile while on the way to the post, began slowly and was outrun. ELSIEN BRUCE was far back throughout. FLAG CATCHER was outrun. NO MORE, quick to get going and kept in close pursuit of the leaders in the early stages, raced into the lead with a rush after going to the outside on the far turn, drew into safe command and won easily thereafter. TANNERY, much used forcing the fast early pace, saved ground after reaching the final three-i eighths and, whilfr unable to resist the winner, field on fairly well. MY DANDY began fast, dropped back on the turn, but held on evenly in the stretch. SILVERDALE was allowed to drop out of it under a weak ride. COG AIR began slowly. BOYS HOWDY, going in his best form, began fast, made a fast pace under good rating and, over* coming interference, held on well, outstaying MORPHEUS. The latter, suddenly improved, began slowly, but responded strongly when hard urged and, after forcing KNIGHTS CALL, OSWEGO. LADDER and SPANISH PLAY into a bad jam, careened into the winner while continuing boldly and just failed to get up. ; SPANISH PLAY had speed from the start, dropped back slightly on the last turn, but was closing with good sped when impeded in the last eighth. OSWEGO, rated along behind the early leaders, was moving up fast when MORPHEUS knocked him to his knees in the stretch. SUNNY LASSIE raced wide and missed the crowding in the stretch. KNIGHTS CALL was crowded out of it in the stretch. SWEEP ALL raced wide, failed to respond when hard urged and pulled up sore. The latter, best and unprepared at the start, was unsuccessful in repeated attempts to get through on the inside after reaching the back stretch, moved up strongly entering the stretch and closed gamely but could not get up. ATLIL closed with a rush on the inside. SUN DREAMER had no mishaps. TEA GREEN quit badly. GARRICK, away poorly, was never a factor. BROWN HILLS was through after seven-eighths. MAGNUM showed early speed. CLASSY began fast, took the lead under restraint, held on well for a quarter when challenged, but tired. NURSIE, close up throughout, lost ground entering the stretch and held on well. EVERGREEN QUEEN began slowly. ARCADIAN FLAG had no mishaps. LADY BIENVILLE, on the inside most of the race, tired in the final drive. DUNMORE lacked his usual belated speed. NA ZDAR fell when in close quarters entering the stretch and MISS MARYLAND fell over him.
