CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 16.— Clayton Morris Uncommon Gold captured the Bert tu Lytell Purse, the fifth race, which attracted d best field at Bainbridge Park this aft- tr ernoon. The Gold Enamel gelding raced rs forwardly throughout, came with a rush on outside of the leaders, Cuttles Boots and Mary Cobb, when called upon in the ai final quarter and drew out into a clear lead fc for near the end. Mary Cobb, a keen factor the entire way, outlasted the tiring n pacemaker. Cuttles Boots, for second rather handily. In fact, Cuttles Boots tired so m rapidly through the final sixteenth that he B was doing his best to save third from Battle 0] Sweep, which closed much ground following n, slow beginning. The racing was staged under favorable his n conditions, the track being at its best and s] overhead the weather could not have been j improved upon, though a cool breeze swept the course. The attendance was of usual h his mid-week day proportions. ir Doc Watsons Royal Rock, after being in- t stalled a pronounced choice, proved to be ic much the best of those engaged in the n he initial race. Jockey Luther sent him to a a the front shortly after the start, never to a headed thereafter, and he drew away 0 into an easy lead in the stretch. Brown a Mary raced in closest attendance through- s] out, but at the end was doing her best to 0 of save second from Neckpiece, which moved d up steadily on the outside of his opponents t the final furlong. An interesting stretch struggle developed s with the running of the second race, in h which Nell Kuhlman graduated from the f. maiden ranks. Logwood led to the stretch, g where Nell Kuhlman and Golden Sun passed him. Racing closely lapped, the latter pair v continued to fight it out all during the run J J. home, and Nell Kuhlman proved the gamest, t winning by a half length. Golden Sun was b an easy second, and Logwood ha"d no oppo- r sition for the minor award. n Securing clair sailing next the inner rail ii all during the stretch run was the contribut- d ing factor in the success of Woody Long in a the third race. At the end he barely lasted s to earn the verdict by a narrow margin from t the fast finishing Nuckols Boy, which was ii forced to work his way up on the outside of v his opponents. It was a rousing finish. Sly b Polly came from far back in the last quarter i: to outstay Yargee and Nonenicer for third, t both of which raced in the first flight throughout. Brown Erin and One Grand | displayed the most early speed, but tired h badly. t
