PROGRAM OF CLAIMING RACES ♦ Platers Monopolize Card at Bain-bridge — Brains Wins Easily. 1 Miss Onine Triumphs in Second Race — Jockey L. Fage Seriously Injured in Accident. I GEAUGA LAKE, Ohio, June 19.— There was no special feature down for decision at Bainbridge Park this afternoon. The program was made up of a series of claiming races, which brought out well matched fields and several of the winners came from unexpected quarters. The fifth race attracted the most select field, made up exclusively of three-year-olds, which raced one mile and seventy yards, and F. S. Page furnished the winner in Brains. After several disappointing efforts, the Black Servant colt came back to make a show of his opponents today, leading by a comfortable margin throughout and scoring decisively. Burnam as easily retained a comfortable margin over the others after leaving the back stretch, but never threatened the winner. Frontman and Bobs Play both came from behind in the stretch and fought it out for the minor award, which Frontman saved by a neck. The races were decided over a fast track, but the weather was excessively hot. The attendance was up to the standard for a ladies day. The racing was interesting, many of the finishes being close and arousing enthusiasm. Finishing with good courage next to the inner rail in the stretch, Starch snatched victory from Dry Nation in a driving finish in the final strides of the opening race. Dry Nation followed in closest pursuit of the pacemaker, Blue John, from the start and held on gamely during the final drive. Oberon outgamed the tiring Blue John for third. Temps dAmour was prominent to the stretch, then tired. Princess Evol led the way until midway in the stretch in the second, with Dodie Leighton and Miss Onine close up. When called upon by jockey J. Scurlock, Miss Onine quickly overhauled the leaders and drew away into an easy lead near the end. Fallen Leaf, nevCr far back, as easily raced into second place in the final sixteenth. In the final drive Princess Evol barely saved third from Dodie Leighton, which had no excuses. A mishap marred the running of this race. Midway in the stretch Indian Rose II., with jockey T. Fowler up, stumbled and foil directly in the path of oncoming horses. Prim-lin, Zebra and Hilda A. fell over Indian Rose II. and when the dust cleared jockey L. Fage, who had the mount on Hilda A., lay motionless on the track. Fage was quickly rushed to St. Alexis Hospital, unconscious, with a possible fractured skull. D. E. Froggatte, who piloted Primlin, and T. Fowler both escaped with minor bruises. D. Meade, who rode Zebra, escaped uninjured. Indian Rose II. was led from the track decidedly lame, but the other horses escaped unhurt. The veteran rider, D. Froggatte, and father of D. E. Froggatte, who is aLo riding here with marked success, piloted Cold Wave to an easy victory in the third race. He sent Cold Wave after the leaders approaching the turn for home and, continuing gamely on the outside of his opponents, drew away decisively in the last sixteenth. Baby Bane and Esplanade were prominent for the entire distance and during the final drive Baby Bane secured second place by a half length. Wooden Soldier ran well to the stretch, then tired. Crowned Head left the maiden ranks when he accounted for the fourth race rather handily. Shasta Charmer and Crowned Head raced closely lapped all through the stretch, but Crowned Head managed to draw clear in the last few yards. Shasta Charmer eventually saved second handily, and Neckpiece came again in the stretch to outlast Leader for the minor award. Leader was a factor until reaching the final sixteenth, then tired quickly. The remainder failed to cut any figure in the running. At a late hour this afternoon it was announced from St. Alexis Hospital that jockey L. Fage was still unconscious and suffering from concussion of the brain.
