FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES . N. W. Burkett returned from Austin, Texas, to where he was called by the death of his brother. After declining mounts for a few days, due to a knee injury, Jimmy Burke resumed riding Friday. L. Mills has taken oyer the book of J. Hlad and will make his engagements during the remainder of the meeting. Mills also handles F. Burley. Robert Saxton, sporting editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer, entrains tonight for the Queen City. With his friend and townsman, " John Early, he vacationed here for two weeks. The stable of horses Edward Haughton raced with great success here this winter will be shipped to Lexington today. Wotan, Prose and Poetry, Stone Martin, Bill Looney and others in the string will be thrown out of training for a time before being prepared for the Kentucky spring meetings. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shaw leave today for Palm Beach, where they will pass the remainder of the winter. Visitors at the Fair Grounds Friday included John J. McGraw, manager of the New York Giants; Cliff Edwards Ukelele Ike and Joe Norris, of Norris and Campbell, popular R..K. O. entertainers. McGraw stopped off for the day on his way from Florida to San Antonio, where the Giants go into training next week.
