HIALEAH PARK TURF NOTES I 4 The two-year-old Brandy was jumped on in her race and badly cut down. Trainer Frank Bray will make an effort to save her for a broodmare. It is reported that F. A. Carreaud, western owner, and his trainer, Jack Howard, have come to the parting of ways. However, it is understood that Howard will look after the Carreaud horses here until the latter secures a new trainer. C. V. Whitney, owner of Top Flight, undefeated juvenile champion, arrived with Mrs. Whitney. G. W. Carroll has taken over Mareve for A. W. Wentzel. Bob Odom formerly handled the filly. Dick McMahon, who looks after the trotting interests of Warren Wright, was an arrival from Kentucky. There are some 3,000 brood mares at Calumet Stud, and one of the home-breds, Calumet Dick, named for McMahon, won the rich Futurity at Goshen last year. McMahon himself was in the sulky on this occasion. Mr. Wright has several thoroughbreds which will sport colors this summer on the New York circuit. Willie Knapp is handling them. Jouett Shouse, who is interested with Desha Breckinridge in that useful racer, Royal Ruff in, is due here. He plans to remain until the conclusion of the meeting. News reached here of the death of William Considine, brother to the late George Considine. Burial services were held from his residence at 862 Pelham Road, New York. The following notice was posted in the secretarys office: "Two horses in separate interests and in the stable of the same trainer can be entered in a claiming race, but the scratch rule will obtain in case either wishes to withdraw by order of the board." J. Y. Christmas, Maryland sportsman, was an arrival from Marlboro. Mr. Christmas stopped over for a days racing. He is on his way to Cuba, where he has been racing a couple of horses this winter. One of them, Popcorn, was claimed a few days ago. He plans to be back to Miami in time for the sale of horses in training, which will be held next week.
