T. S. YOUNG VISITS MIAMI MIAMI, Fla., Feb. 20. Thomas S. Young, in whose colors that good plater Pop Gaffney races, was a visitor. He got in from his home near Philadelphia and plans to remain for a couple of weeks before returning North. Pop Gaffney was one of four horses that Mr. Young purchased of Mrs. Raskob. The other three were Green Cheese, War Paint and Game Coq. Mrs. Raskob purchased these horses as yearlings and then turned them out. They were not raced until the fall of their three-year-old form when Mr. Young secured them. Green Cheese and Game Coq were sold to Mrs. John Hay Whitney, and the former won 8,000 last season. One of his victories was in the Grand National. Last fall Mr. Young sent War Paint to James Healys place at Glasgow, Del., to be schooled. The mare took to fencing in such clever fashion that Mrs. F. Ambrose Clark purchased her. War Paint, which had a foal in 1931, is a big mare, standing 16.2, of fine conformation and is said to be one of the best prospects for a steeplechaser in the country.
