NORTH MILL, away fast and having speed, shook off BIANOZ after a quarter, withstood the bid of PASS CHRISTIAN and, after drawing clear entering the final eighth, outstayed VENNIE H. The latter, never far back, saved much ground, slipped through on the inside of the winner in the final eighth and was going well in the closing stages. PASS CHRISTIAN moved to the leader with a rush at the stretch turn, but tired in the final eighth. SUN GROS lost some ground and showed a good effort. SIMON had no mishaps. BIANOZ had early speed. FLYING DS was in close quarters shortly after the start. OLD JUDGE met early interference. PIERRE PAN bore out badly at the turn. RUSSELL, placed outside the stalls at the start and away well and having excellent racing luck, moved up under light urging at the turn and, standing the drive gamely, got up in the final stages. GUNFIRE forced the early pace under light restraint, drew into a good lead after reaching the stretch, but weakened. THE WHIG bettered his position gradually, saved ground entering the stretch and, coming to the outside in the final eighth, closed fastest of all. PRINCESS ZELDA, fractious at the post, raced well. BALLYHOO weakened in the final drive. ZEVAR, in close quarters early, saved ground at the turn and failed to rally when urged hard. MANNERS had early speed. BALDERDASH and QUANDO, the latter placed outside the stalls, were awav poorly. CABAMA, taken back repeatedly the first three-eighths, moved up rapidly after going to the outside and, wearing down PAT C. and RUNNING WATER, was safe from SAMBO BROWN. The latter, under energetic tactics from the start, rallied stoutly after reaching the final quarter and was going well at the end. PAT C, under strong restraint for three-eighths, raced into an easy lead entering the stretch, but faltered in the drive. RUNNING WATER had speed from the start, saved considerable ground and also weakened in the closing stages. LIQUIDATE showed a fair effort. GREEN WAVE quit badly after five-eighths. HILDUR ROCK, never far back, saved ground all the way, responded to strong urging after reaching the final eighth, where he came through on the inside and, getting up, weakened, but outstayed JUSTICE LOGAN. The latter showed the most speed from the start, but bore out entering the stretch and stood a long drive gamely. THROUGH OMOND, up close under light restraint the first three-eighths, held on well under urging, but could not get up. PRYOR, away slowly, raced greenly and the effort may benefit him. CULLODEN, well up after a quarter and under strong restraint until reaching the stretch turn, where he was slightly shaken up, easily disposed of AGAPANTHUS and DEEMSTER and won well in hand. HERENDEEN began slowly, moved up steadily after reaching the final half-mile and stood the drive gamely, but could not threaten the winner. DEEMSTER was a strong factor all the way and, slightly forced back entering the stretch, held on fairly well. AGAPANTHUS, under strong reserve the first five-eighths, reached the lead entering the stretch, but faltered in the drive. TEA CRACKER lost ground almost all the way. TYPHOON had good early speed. FIREFLASH had speed, was cleverly rated and held on fairly well. CAPTAIN T. moved up fast at the last turn, swerved repeatedly in the stretch and stood the drive gamely. DISCOBOLUS had a rough trip, was knocked back leaving the back stretch and closed stoutly when straightened up in the stretch. WINONA LADY had no mishaps. BOB CUSTER had good speed, but quit badly. The latter, taken to the lead, where he showed good speed, increased his advantage at the stretch turn, held on gamely, but was not good enough. CAPTAIN ED, a strong factor throughout, saved ground and weakened in the drive, but outstayed ST. NAZAIRE. The latter raced wide almost throughout and showed a good effort. KNEEHIGH met interference shortly after the start, again at the close of a half mile and failed to rally when clear* PRINCE HERBERT had early speed. DELVEN dropped out of it after three-eighths.
